Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is seeking an experienced Food Safety Officer on an interim basis. You will lead inspections, audits and risk assessments to ensure food businesses meet hygiene and safety standards.

Responsibilities include enforcing standards under the Food Law Code of Practice, advising businesses, conducting samples and supporting outbreak responses across the borough.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Food Safety Officer or similar local authority role.
• Competence to carry out food hygiene inspections per Food Law Code of Practice.
• Knowledge of HACCP, allergen controls and food safety legislation.
• Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned hygiene and standards inspections and audits.
• Assess businesses and award hygiene ratings; handle revisits/appeals.
• Investigate complaints and outbreaks; take food samples.
• Provide regulatory guidance to businesses on legal requirements.
• Use enforcement powers proportionately; prepare notices where required.
• Register new food businesses and perform approval visits.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and meet targets.
• Collaborate with FSA, UKHSA and partners.
