Role Summary

I'm recruiting on behalf of a council in the South East that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Fire Risk Assessor to strengthen their Fire Safety function within the Property & Assets division. This position plays a vital part in maintaining a safe corporate estate, with responsibility for delivering thorough fire risk assessments, inspections, and compliance activities across a varied property portfolio.

The organisation is seeking someone with solid technical expertise, strong knowledge of the Fire Safety Order (2005), and practical experience in housing-related fire safety.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Taking the lead in achieving full compliance across the council's corporate buildings by delivering high-quality fire risk assessments
  • Supporting the development and monitoring of Building Safety Cases as part of wider building safety responsibilities
  • Carrying out assessments across council-managed sites and ensuring that all risk findings and recommendations are clearly recorded
  • Ensuring the remedial actions you identify are appropriate, prioritised correctly, and aligned with the council's internal FRA procedures
  • Working closely with other assessors to ensure a consistent, whole-portfolio approach to managing fire risk
  • Overseeing the FRA programme and helping develop the skills of junior and mid-level assessors through mentoring and guidance
  • Acting as a specialist advisor on fire safety matters for colleagues and liaising with external partners where required
What We're Looking For
  • Strong technical understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant legislation, ideally gained within a housing environment
  • Background in completing Type 1, 2, and 3 fire risk assessments
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain fire safety issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to run an FRA programme effectively, including coordinating workloads and supporting other assessors
  • Experience compiling KPI data and reporting on fire safety performance
