Interim Finance Manager – Building Sector SME – Sheffield

£50,000 - £60,000 pro rata | 4–6 Month Contract | Immediate Start

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Finance Manager to join a friendly, well-established SME in the building sector, based in Sheffield. With a turnover of approximately £12 million, this business is known for its collaborative culture and strong local reputation.

This is a 4–6 month interim role, offering an immediate start with the potential of a permanent appointment and a competitive salary of circa £50,000 - £60,000 pro rata.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing all financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and board packs
  • Managing cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
  • Managing VAT returns, and HMRC submissions
  • Supporting operational teams with financial insights and decision-making
  • Monitoring and reporting on WIP (Work in Progress) and job costing
  • Improving financial processes and systems where needed

  • Proven experience in an SME environment, ideally within the building sector or a WIP-led business
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and mentor a small team
  • Hands‑on approach with excellent attention to detail
