Job description
Overview

RM Recruit are supporting a sizable charity in the recruitment of their current Interim Financial Controller vacancy for a period of three months. This role is 100% remote working and includes overseeing a team of 3 and reporting into the Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the month end process, working in collaboration with all finance team members and leading on month end timetables.
  • Manage both the external audit and the overall year end processes including draft statutory financial statements in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee effective financial control across the organisation, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, procedures and the relevant delegated authorities.
  • Develop rolling cash forecasts to optimise cash levels.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and inter‑company accounts.
  • Regularly review and oversee the general ledger, fixed assets, debtors and creditors.
  • Manage and oversee Restricted and Designated Funds.
  • Ensure overall VAT compliance, including HMRC submissions and implementing improvements to the VAT process to keep finance systems compliant with HMRC VAT Rules.
  • Maintain and optimise financial systems and software.
  • Prepare statutory returns for the Charities Commission & Companies House.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance and regional Business Partners to support the delivery of monthly management accounts.
  • Via delegation, oversee the management of the payroll function, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Provide career development for members of the Finance Team.
  • Develop key financial operational policies via projects set by the Head of Finance.
Qualifications and Requirements

In order to be considered for this role, you will be a qualified (essential) accountant with proven experience managing statutory accounting concerns across a large charity organisation in the capacity of Financial Controller. The senior finance team will rely on the postholder to be the central point of information for all financial accounting, VAT, SORP and statutory submissions. Immediate availability is required; you will benefit from an immediate start.
