Overview
Our Public Sector client is looking for an Interim CCAB Qualified Financial Accountant for a period of 3-6 months whilst they go through the process of recruiting to the role on a substantive basis.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Support consolidation of group financial results.
Management Accounting:
- Assist in preparing management reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business performance and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor expenditure and support cost control initiatives.
Compliance and Controls:
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax/VAT requirements.
- Prepare and file VAT, corporation tax, and other relevant returns.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes.
- Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit requirements.
Other Duties:
- Support system improvements and automation initiatives within finance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure financial alignment.
- Ad hoc analysis and project work as required by the Financial Controller or senior Management.
Qualifications and experience:
- CCAB qualification or equivalent (Interim).
- Public Sector experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong financial accounting, reporting and controls experience.
- Experience with VAT and corporation tax filings.
