Overview

Our Public Sector client is looking for an Interim CCAB Qualified Financial Accountant for a period of 3-6 months whilst they go through the process of recruiting to the role on a substantive basis.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support consolidation of group financial results.

Management Accounting:

  • Assist in preparing management reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor expenditure and support cost control initiatives.

Compliance and Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax/VAT requirements.
  • Prepare and file VAT, corporation tax, and other relevant returns.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Liaise with external auditors and coordinate audit requirements.

Other Duties:

  • Support system improvements and automation initiatives within finance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure financial alignment.
  • Ad hoc analysis and project work as required by the Financial Controller or senior Management.

Qualifications and experience:

  • CCAB qualification or equivalent (Interim).
  • Public Sector experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong financial accounting, reporting and controls experience.
  • Experience with VAT and corporation tax filings.
