Interim Finance Manager 1–2 Months with potential extension

Are you a hands‑on Finance Manager looking for your next challenge in a friendly, close‑knit SME environment? Reed Finance is seeking an experienced finance professional to support a dynamic business during a busy period. This is a temporary role for 1–2 months, with the potential for extension.

About the Role:

You’ll play a key role in managing the day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Working closely with the CEO and wider team, you’ll be responsible for:

Daily Cashflow Management
  • Maintain and update direct debits and standing orders
  • Monitor 3 bank accounts and liaise with the CEO on payments
  • Send remittances to suppliers and update Sage accordingly
Supplier & Account Reconciliation
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and liaise directly with suppliers
  • Monitor the postage account
Cashflow Finance Management
  • Upload/fund purchase invoices and process daily payments
  • Monthly reconciliation of the Cashflow Finance and Nominal Debtors accounts
HMRC & VAT
  • Liaise with HMRC as needed
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns (Partial Claim VAT)
Accounts Preparation
  • Draft monthly accounts for the Financial Accountant including:
  • Fixed Assets, Depreciation, Debtors/Creditors
  • Accruals, Prepayments, Irrecoverable VAT
  • Loan accounts, Bank Reconciliations, Payroll Reconciliations, Monthly Journals
Reporting & Month‑End
  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for the CEO
  • Supervise month‑end to ensure all sales invoices are raised
  • Arrange monthly payroll payments via bank
Year‑End Support
  • Liaise with auditors and provide month‑end/year‑end data
  • Complete Sage year‑end procedures
About You:
  • Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role
  • Strong knowledge of Sage accounting software
  • Comfortable working independently in a small, collaborative team
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Able to hit the ground running in a fast‑paced SME environment
