Job summary

Investigo is searching for an experienced Interim Finance Director for a mid-sized retail business on the Essex/Hertfordshire border. This hands-on role requires immediate availability and a proven track record of leading a finance function in a sub £250m revenue environment.

The successful candidate will manage the finance team, support strategic decisions, and ensure strong financial controls. A genuine doer who thrives in operational detail is essential.

Overview

We’re partnering with a well-established, mid-sized retail business on the Essex/Hertfordshire border to appoint an experienced Interim Finance Director for an initial 3–6 month assignment.

This role requires a hands-on finance leader who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational level. You’ll be leading the finance function, working closely with the C-suite, managing the transaction finance team, overseeing audit processes, and driving strong financial control across the business.

This is not a role for someone who wants to stay at a strategic level only - we need a genuine “doer” who is happy getting into the detail whilst leading the wider finance function.

Non-Negotiables

• Retail and/or stock-based business experience
• Immediately available or able to start at very short notice
• Able to work on-site 4 days per week
• Proven experience leading a full finance function in a mid-sized business environment (sub £250m revenue)
