Job summary

Service Care is seeking an experienced Interim Assistant Head of Inclusion (DSL) for a specialist independent school in East Acton, London. The role is on-site, full-time, and runs initially until January 2027 with a potential to become permanent.

You will take the lead on safeguarding, manage a complex caseload, and drive inclusion and pupil welfare across the school, reporting to the Deputy Headteacher and supervising pastoral staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work or equivalent relevant professional qualification.
• At least two years' recent DSL experience, ideally in specialist education.
• Experience managing and developing staff in safeguarding and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the school.
• Manage a complex caseload and provide safeguarding oversight.
• Lead multi‑agency working for Early Help, CIN, CP and Looked After Children.
• Make safeguarding referrals to Local Authority and Channel.
• Provide strategic leadership across behaviour, attendance and inclusion.
• Supervise and develop Pastoral Care Coordinators.
• Deliver safeguarding guidance, advice and training to staff.
• Promote a strong safeguarding culture across the school.
