Job summary

The University of Cambridge seeks a Cambridge Mathematical Innovation Research Associate (CaMIRA) within the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, contributing to the Cambridge Hub for Innovative Mathematics in Research and Applications (CHIMiRA). The role may be filled at Research Associate or Senior Research Associate level depending on experience.

The successful candidate will be part of a small CaMIRA team, working on a portfolio of short-to-medium term projects funded

Qualifications

PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or a related discipline.
Experience across several areas of statistics and data science.
Strong communication skills to scope ideas and explain statistical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Willingness to engage with industry and participate in translational activities.
Coding and software engineering proficiency if relevant to ML challenges.

Responsibilities

Develop and conduct individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals and projects.
Plan and manage own research and administration with guidance as needed.
Assist in preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies.
Communicate technical material clearly and build internal and external contacts.
Supervise student projects or plan/deliver seminars in the research area.
