Job summary

A leading government consultancy in the UK is seeking a user-focused Interaction Designer to create intuitive digital services. You'll design user-centred interfaces for web and mobile, work within a multidisciplinary team, and ensure adherence to Government Digital Service standards. This role is remote with monthly client site travel. A passion for enhancing public service through design is essential.

Job description

Location: Remote with travel to client site monthly (Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle)

Day Rate: £405p/d - Inside IR35

Duration: 2 year contract (6 month work packages)

Security Clearance: Active SC clearance

About the Role

We're looking for a user-focused Interaction Designer to help shape intuitive, accessible, and inclusive digital services that meet the needs of citizens. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll design end-to-end user journeys that align with Government Digital Service (GDS) principles, ensuring services are simple to use and deliver real public value.

Key Responsibilities

• Design user‑centred interfaces and interactions across web and mobile platforms

• Collaborate with researchers, developers, and service designers to iterate based on user feedback

• Apply GDS design patterns and accessibility standards to ensure consistency and usability

• Create prototypes and wireframes to test and communicate design ideas

• Champion design thinking and contribute to design critiques and community practices

• Support service assessments and ensure designs meet GDS service standards
