Job summary

Bedfordshire Police is seeking an Intelligence Researcher (ROCTA) on a part-time, permanent basis within ERSOU. The role is based in Stevenage and supports the Regional Organised Crime Threat Assessment Unit, with up to 22 hours per week and a pro rata salary from £33,603 FTE.

The position requires NSV vetting; travel to Stevenage is expected a couple of times weekly, with agility and collaboration across forces. Join a committed team in regional policing and security operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with Windows-based software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to interrogate data from multiple systems, working to tight deadlines.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Flexible approach to work and self-motivation.
• Desirable: prior experience handling intelligence or policing environment.
• Desirable: Accredited through Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP).

Responsibilities

• Interrogate a range of databases and systems to identify intelligence of value to departments or individuals.
• Conduct daily scanning or data input activities as required to assist in understanding and identification of threat, risk and vulnerability.
• Liaise with customers to define research requirements and provide advised opportunities and limitations.
• Collect and collate intelligence in line with customer requirements, recording results with provenance details.
• Work with stakeholders, researching places or individuals and highlighting gaps in reporting.
• Thematically relate data and draw links between individuals and groups to add value to intelligence.
• Support analysts in horizon scanning to identify relevant intelligence and context.
• Produce findings in written, visual or verbal formats for internal/external customers.
• Disseminate intelligence appropriately, in line with handling instructions and security classifications.
