Job summary

Saab UK, Fareham, leads the Integration Team responsible for assembling and integrating remotely operated underwater vehicles and supporting equipment, delivering projects on time and to high quality standards.

The role requires proven team leadership, experience in fast-paced production, and a relevant HNC/HND in Electronics, with fibre optic termination and testing expertise; offshore commissioning and customer support may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous Team Leadership experience essential.
• Able to lead a fast-paced production area and meet deadlines.
• Minimum HNC/HND in Electronics.
• Good knowledge of fibre optic termination, equipment and testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Integration Engineering team in the Assembly, Testing and Commissioning of underwater robotics fleet.
• Ensure team are trained to integrate assemblies and sub-assemblies per customer specs and company documentation.
• Support overall testing of products required, proving system functionality and auxiliaries per customer requirements.
• Provide offsite/offshore commissioning and customer support as needed.
• Lead fault finding and repair, reporting faults through the proper channels.
• Receive change requests and provide information to improve quality and efficiency.
• Interpret designs, engineering information and electrical drawings to assemble and test working assemblies and prototypes.
• Use IT and other systems required for the role.
• Maintain 6S and health and safety compliance.

The Role:

This role will be part of our Saab Seaeye Business Unit in Fareham. You will be responsible for leading the Integration Team in the assembly and integration of remotely operated vehicles and their supporting equipment in line with the configuration document, ensuring that all projects are completed in time and in-line with delivery schedules whilst working to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of Integration Engineering working on the Assembly, Testing and Commissioning of our underwater robotics fleet.
• Ensure team are trained effectively in order to integrate all assemblies and sub-assemblies to produce complete systems as per the customer specification and in accordance with company documentation.
• Support the overall testing of products required, proving system functionality, including all auxiliaries as per customer requirements.
• Provide offsite/offshore commissioning and customer support as and when required by the company or by customer.
• Lead the team in fault find and repair equipment as situations dictate and ensure that all faults and issues are reported in the appropriate format.
• Receive change requests and provide information to improve product quality or improve efficiency to support continual improvement process.
• Interpreting designs, engineering information and electrical drawings to assemble and test working assemblies and prototypes.
• Appropriate use of all relevant IT and other systems required to perform the role.
• Using personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in day-to-day activities and procedures within the specified role.
• Complying with 6S best practice and health and safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
• To act ethically, with integrity and in the best interest of the business at all times.
• To maintain a professional and supportive relationship with other departments in order to deliver business and delivery objectives or deadlines.
• To carry out any other duties as detailed by the Engineering Manager or his authorised representative.

Skills and Experience:

• Previous Team Leadership experience is essential.
• Ability to lead a fast paced production area and ensure deadlines are being met.
• A minimum HNC/HND qualification preferably in Electronics.
• Good knowledge in the use of fibre optic termination, equipment and testing.
