A leading healthcare organization in Glasgow is seeking a Support Service Assistant to deliver a quality domestic and catering service. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe environment, following cleaning schedules, and using mechanical cleaning equipment. Applicants should be able to work part-time hours from 15.45 to 20.00, Monday to Friday. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is 15.45 – 20.00 Monday to Friday

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Responsibilities
  • The predominant purpose of the Support Service Assistant role is to provide a quality domestic and catering service, ensuring a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors. Within Health Centres this is a core cleaning service only.
  • Follow agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice.
  • Rotate around clinical areas and all departments; present an efficient, high quality service to patients and staff; follow a defined daily schedule; maintain a flexible approach to daily routine.
  • Use economic and safe cleaning practices and follow manufacturers instructions for cleaning agents.
  • Use mechanical cleaning equipment; inform the Supervisor of requirements for work materials and check delivery of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work.
  • All necessary training will be offered to ensure the working environment is safe and you are confident within your role.
