Working Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Department

Thurrock Adult Social Care is seeking adedicated and compassionate individual to join us as an integrated Mental Health Adviser on a permanent basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a role that is committed to supporting adults with mental health needs to live independently engage meaningfully with their communities and access the right support at the right time.

This varied and rewarding role involves working closely with individuals aged 18 and over to promote independence wellbeing and recovery. You will work independently to support individuals to connect people with their communities reducing isolation and supporting access to appropriate services and resources.

About the Role

As an Integrated Mental Health Adviser you will be responsible for :

  • Screening and responding to incoming referrals phone calls and emails via the front door service offering timely advice and triage.
  • Provide person-centred mental health support to adults helping them build resilience and maintain independence within their communities.
  • Offer clear guidance and signposting to external agencies voluntary sector organisations and community resources.
  • Promote positive risk-taking enabling individuals to make informed choices that enhance their quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in line with service standards and data protection requirements.
  • Support colleagues by sharing mental health knowledge contributing to team learning and development.
  • Identify when Social Work involvement is required and initiate referrals appropriately.
  • Participate in joint visits with social care colleagues to assess needs and support individuals in their own environments.
  • Support Care Act-compliant assessments by working alongside social workers and fieldwork teams providing relevant information and context.
  • Attend Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) and Integrated Locality Team (ILT) meetings contributing to collaborative working.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting adults with mental health needs ideally within community or social care settings.
  • An understanding of mental health conditions recovery models and person‑centred approaches.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014 Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with individuals families and professionals.
  • Confidence in working independently managing a varied caseload and making informed decisions.
  • Ability to provide clear advice guidance and signposting to statutory and voluntary sector services.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach with a commitment to promoting wellbeing independence and inclusion.
  • Strong organisational skills including accurate record‑keeping and time management.
  • A flexible and resilient attitude with the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.

DBS Check : Enhanced check with Adults Barred list is required
