Insurance Surveyor / Contracts Manager
  • Location: Wickford, Essex
  • Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
  • Benefits: Company pension scheme, company car, private medical insurance
  • Remote Working: Not available – this is a fully office-based role
  • Reports To: The Directors
About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Surveyor / Contracts Manager to oversee small to medium-sized domestic insurance claims from inception to completion. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in insurance surveying and contract management who is confident managing subcontractors, project timelines, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surveying domestic insurance claims and producing detailed scopes of works using client-specific schedules of rates
  • Managing the works diary and ensuring subcontractor continuity with forward planning at least two weeks ahead
  • Meeting client SLA deadlines for surveys and scope submissions
  • Managing the full claim lifecycle from survey to completion, including issuing work orders and creating works programmes
  • Conducting site audits to ensure quality standards and H&S compliance
  • Handling variations, technical queries, and policyholder communications
  • Closing off claims and ensuring all final documentation, invoices, and photographic evidence are completed
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and all health & safety requirements
  • Procuring and onboarding new subcontractors when needed
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience within domestic insurance surveying and contract management
  • Proven ability to manage multiple live claims, trades, and schedules concurrently
  • Strong understanding of insurer pricing models and commercial margins
  • Confident using systems such as Symbility, Synergy, and Excel-based scheduling tools
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus and the ability to manage sensitive or high-pressure situations
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Sound knowledge of general building technology and construction processes
