Job summary

Forbes Solicitors is seeking a Solicitor/Associate to join its Insurance (Complex Claims) team at the Gordon House office. This full-time role (36.25 hours) may be based in Leeds, with busy caseloads across Employers and Public Liability matters.

The successful candidate will advise on complex liability, contractual issues and indemnities, manage own caseload, and drive outcomes for clients while upholding ISO/quality standards and SRA conduct.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor (or CILEX equivalent) with 3–5 years PQE.
• Proven experience in Employers and Public Liability claims.
• Expert knowledge of CPR and Insurance litigation processes.
• Experience advising commercial organisations and dealing with insurers.
• Experience using legal case management systems (PfW).
• Capacity to manage own caseload, meet deadlines and generate fees.
• Strong client care skills aligned with SRA Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Handle or support a varied caseload of Defendant Insurance claims (Employers/Public Liability).
• Advise on complex liability, contractual and indemnity issues.
• Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance to clients.
• Ensure profitability and attainment of KPIs including time recording and financial management.
• Complete legal tasks and documentation, including research, drafting and liability calculations.
• Analyse matters, assess risks and determine case strategy.
• Negotiate, mediate or litigate to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate with Associates, Senior Associates and Partners on complex cases.
• Deliver exceptional client care and maintain clear communication.
• Represent clients in court or liaise with counsel as needed.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and SRA Principles/Code of Conduct; meet deadlines.
• Stay updated with legal developments via CPD.
• Build relationships with clients and drive firm growth.
