A secondary school in Greater London is seeking an enthusiastic Instrumental MUSIC TEACHER specializing in Violin, starting on January 5, 2026. The role involves teaching secondary school students and preparing them for ABRSM and TCL examinations, within a supportive educational ethos celebrating diversity. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education and experience in teaching violin. This part-time position is expected to involve working two days a week during term times.

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic violin teacher to join our Music Department at Dunraven School Secondary Phase from 5 January 2026. The number of hours is dependent on the number of students, but is currently equivalent to 2 days per week during term time. The successful applicant will be working with secondary school aged students and be required to prepare them for ABRSM and / or TCL examinations. The school’s ethos is ‘Excellence for All’ and the trustees wish to appoint candidates of significant ability and enthusiasm, aware of and stimulated by the challenges and potential of a successful multi-ethnic coeducational school.

In 2018, the Dunraven Educational Trust began working in partnership with two primary schools. Van Gogh Primary joined the Trust on 1 September 2018 and was followed by Goldfinch in January 2019. We were joined by Rosendale Primary and The Elmgreen School in September 2022.

Music is a universal art in which all students can participate and from which they gain enjoyment, regardless of ability or experience. The aim of Dunraven Music department is to provide a stimulating, thorough and engaging music education to all students at Dunraven School, and to provide opportunities for students to progress in Music through composition, performance and understanding of musical theory and history.
All Key Stage 3 students receive one music lesson a week in year 7 through to year 9 and then have the option to continue their study at GCSE and A level. Many Dunraven students choose to go on to study music at GCSE level, with some also opting to pursue A level and degree courses in Music and Music Technology.
Dunraven provides a high standard of instrumental tuition, with over 200 students in the secondary phase and over 100 students in the primary phase taking weekly instrumental lessons on a wide range of instruments - with many of these taking external examinations each term. A significant number of Dunraven instrumentalists choose to continue with their instrumental studies beyond Grade 6.
There is a flourishing programme of extra‑curricular opportunities which students from all year groups are encouraged to attend, as well as regular visits and performance opportunities. The strong team of instrumental teachers at the school take an active role in the musical life of the students, with many leading instrumental ensembles and supporting concerts and visits.
Above all, we aim to foster an enjoyment of music appreciation, creativity and an awareness of the importance of music in all cultures and communities.
