Job summary

Bilfinger UK is seeking an Instrument Technician at Koura Global in Runcorn to calibrate, troubleshoot and repair process instruments as part of the site maintenance program. The role requires maintenance experience in oil & gas or regulated industries, plus familiarity with hazardous areas and instrumentation safety systems.

You'll work across plant operations, follow procedures and wear appropriate safety gear.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in oil & gas or other regulated industries.
• Hazardous areas experience is essential.
• Desirable: knowledge of analyser equipment.
• Desirable: proof testing of safety instrumented systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and replace process instruments as part of the plant's maintenance program.
• Maintain process instruments including valves, vibration monitors and related equipment.
• Perform environmental compliance testing and documentation.
• Collaborate with plant operations to evaluate routine and emergency instrument work.
• Adhere to safety policies and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Move around process equipment and confined spaces as required.

Bilfinger UK are looking for an Instrument Technician at Koura Global in Runcorn.

Responsibilities

• Follow plant policies and repair procedures
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and replace process instruments as a part of the plant's maintenance program
• Maintain process instruments including valves, vibration monitors and other instruments
• Perform required environmental compliance testing and documentation
• Reduce cost of repairing equipment while maintaining or increasing the quality of repairs
• Work closely with plant operations to evaluate both routine and emergency instrument work
• Wear proper safety equipment in appropriate areas
• Be able to move in and around process equipment and confined spaces

Skills / Competencies

Experience

• Maintenance experience in the oil & gas, Chemical industry or other regulated industry – Essential
• Extensive experience working in hazardous areas - Essential
• Detailed knowledge of analyser equipment – Desirable
• Proof testing of safety instrumented systems - Desirable

Qualifications

• Relevant approved apprenticeship / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent – Essential
• Minimum City & Guilds / ONC certificate in Instrument Engineering or equivalent – Essential
• Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate
• Detailed knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX legislation (COMPEX 01-04) – Essential
• SBT 01-02 – Desirable

Working Hours

58 Hour Working Week(10 Weeks) Commencing 1st September 2026:

• Hours 37.5 Hours per week (Mon-Fri) PAYE (JIB Aligned )
• Hours 12.5 Hours per week (Mon -Fri) PAYE (JIB Aligned )
• Hours 6 Hours per week (Sat Morning) PAYE (JIB Aligned )
• Hours 2 Hours per week (Sat Afternoon) PAYE (JIB Aligned )
