Instrument Technician
Location: near East Hoathly, East Sussex
Salary: £28,000-£32,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday-Friday, full-time, permanent

This role involves hands-on electro-mechanical assembly, testing, and calibration within a small, skilled production team at a leading scientific instrument manufacturer supplying precision vacuum systems to a global customer base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and test precision vacuum instruments from kits of parts.
  • Carry out electro-mechanical wiring, soldering, and calibration.
  • Perform fault-finding, repairs, and occasional site installations.
  • Maintain accurate production and test records.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
  • Background in electro-mechanical assembly or test engineering.
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Competent with hand tools, test meters, and inspection gauges.
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering (advantageous).
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport (rural site).
