Job summary

East Sussex County Council operates Buzz Active across three outdoor centres in East Sussex and is seeking instructors for full and peak seasons. You will deliver outdoor experiences on the water and in the woods, at Eastbourne locations, and work with diverse groups of learners.

Interviews are arranged in person at the Eastbourne site, with DBS checks and overseas police checks where required. Starting salary is pro rata for part-time or term-time roles. Sponsorship info available on gov.uk.

We Are Looking for Candidates Who

• Hold relevant RYA, British Canoeing or land-based instructional qualifications (e.g. Archery GB, Climbing Wall Instructor).
• Have a valid First Aid qualification.
• Enjoy working outdoors with young people and diverse groups.
• Can work flexibly across weekends and evenings.
• Have a positive, team-focused attitude and a passion for helping others learn new skills.

About Us

Buzz Active operates from three unique outdoor centres in East Sussex — Eastbourne Beach for sailing and windsurfing, Cuckmere Valley for paddle sports, and Bushy Wood for land-based and residential adventures. Working with us gives you the chance to develop your skills across disciplines, gain additional qualifications, and make a real difference in outdoor education.

Interview Details

Interviews will take place in person at our Eastbourne site on Royal Parade during the weeks beginning 02 or 09 November 2026. If you are unavailable on these dates, let us know and we may be able to offer an alternative date.
