Location: Forest of Dean

Contract Type: 12 months Fixed Term

Hours: 37.5

Salary: £26,232.00

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Installer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract in the Forest of Dean area. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the national Analogue to Digital Telecare Switch, ensuring our service users experience a smooth transition with minimal disruption.

As an Installer, you will visit customers in their homes to install, upgrade, and test digital telecare equipment. You will also provide basic user guidance, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly and that users feel confident and supported.

This role includes participation in a weekend on-call rota approximately every 6-8 weeks, responding to urgent installation or maintenance issues outside of regular working hours.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the company’s Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS) installation and maintenance services by applying specialist knowledge and skills (training will be provided)
  • Program, demonstrate and install technology in clients’ homes and other premises, sometimes requiring basic DIY skills (e.g. fitting smoke detectors, key safes)
  • Promote understanding with service users of how their technology solution works, providing clear explanation, instruction and supporting literature
  • Effectively manage individual workload to deliver timely appointments in accordance with internal KPIs and external audits
  • Deliver excellent customer service when visiting service users’ homes to install and maintain equipment
  • Maintain, repair or replace equipment as necessary and replace batteries on both a planned and responsive basis
  • Arrange removal of equipment no longer required and assist in stock management
  • Assist with asset management and stock control measures including storage, tracking, and recycling
  • Complete client assessments and obtain client details for inputting on call handling database
  • Responsible for safe use of vehicles, tools and equipment in line with Taking Care policy and procedures
Essential Requirements

  • Willingness to travel (a valid driving licence is required)
  • Ability to follow safeguarding and data protection protocols
  • Competence in MS Office and basic computing packages
Desirable (but Not Essential)
  • Experience with installation and maintenance of electronic or telecommunication equipment
  • Familiarity with telehealthcare devices (e.g., fall detectors, personal alarms, medication dispensers)
  • Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile data)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and installation guides
  • Previous experience in telecare, healthcare, social care, or community support roles
