Job Title: Installation Support/ Compressed Air Maintenance Engineer

Location: Bury St Edmunds

Salary: 28-34k Depending Upon Experience

We are seeking a practical, reliable, motivated, and mechanically minded Installation Assistant - Compressed Air Maintenance/Support Engineer to join our team. You will support the installation, maintenance, and repair of compressed air systems for a wide range of customers and help maintain our own equipment on site and repairs in the workshop.

This hands‑on role is ideal for someone with a mechanical or electrical background particularly from the general engineering, motor trade or agricultural sector or similar trades – looking to transition into a specialised technical field with opportunities to develop into a fully trained compressed air engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the installation, testing and commissioning of compressed air systems, including compressors, dryers, filters, condensate systems and pipework at customer sites.
  • Support lead engineers with mechanical fitting during installations.
  • Work at height when required to assist with positioning and installation of pipework and associated equipment.
  • Prepare tools, parts and equipment for forthcoming jobs.
  • Carry out workshop-based repairs, diagnostics, and equipment preparation, including the preparation of manifolds and components for installation and preparation of pipework including painting and labelling.
  • Safely use hand tools and power tools to carry out installation tasks.
Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Practical hands‑on experience in mechanical, electrical or technical role – experience in motor mechanics, agricultural machinery repairs, plant, or similar fields are highly valued.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools confidently.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic.
  • Comfortable working both in a workshop and on customer sites.
  • Comfortable working at height.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take instruction from senior engineers.
