Kurt J. Lesker Company Ltd is seeking an Installation and Service Engineer to join our Process Equipment Division. The role involves installing and supporting PVD tools across Europe, troubleshooting advanced systems, and delivering technical training to customers.

The ideal candidate has a BSc in a scientific field and 5+ years in field service or related roles, with strong vacuum technology knowledge and excellent communication skills. Regular UK/European travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a scientific field (e.g., physics, chemistry, materials science)
• At least 5 years in field service, installation, or similar technical role
• Strong understanding of vacuum tech and thin film deposition processes
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and travel abilities

Responsibilities

• Install and support KJLC/KDF PVD tools across the UK/Europe
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies
• Perform preventative maintenance, upgrades and field mods
• Interact with customers via phone, email, and video conferencing
• Travel to customer sites across the UK and Europe for install/service/support
• Provide customer training on system operation, software, and hardware
• Interpret drawings, schematics, and system documentation
• Possess helium leak detection skills and use RGA for basic analysis
• Build strong relationships with customers as a trusted technical advisor

Installation and Service Engineer

Location: Remote UK, Germany or Poland.
Contract: Full‑time, Permanent
Hours: 40 per week

About the role

We are currently looking for an Installation and Service Engineer to join our Process Equipment Division. You will be responsible for various system installations across Europe, troubleshooting both mechanical and electro‑mechanical assemblies, as well as providing technical support for both our internal and external customers.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with innovative technologies, support leading organisations across a range of industries, and make a real impact on customer success.

Role expectations

• Provide system installation and support for both KJLC/KDF PVD tools
• Trouble‑shooting of any level mechanical, electro‑mechanical assemblies or coating systems
• Performing preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and field modifications
• Interaction with customers regarding service enquiries via phone, email and video‑conferencing
• Travelling to customer sites across the UK and Europe to carry out installation, service, and support activities
• Delivering customer training on system operation, software, and hardware
• Thorough understanding of software navigation and PC operation
• Interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation
• Ability to perform helium leak detection and perform basic analysis using a Residual Gas Analyzer (RGA)
• Building strong relationships with customers and acting as a trusted technical advisor

What we are looking for

• BSc in a scientific discipline (e.g. physics, chemistry, materials science etc.)
• 5+ years experience in a field service, installation, service engineering, or similar technical role
• Thorough understanding of vacuum technology and thin film deposition techniques and processes
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to travel regularly throughout the UK and internationally.
