Job summary

The Milton Keynes Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students across the school in a warm, inclusive environment. You will assist under the guidance of teachers, help with learning activities, manage behaviour, and track progress to enable every pupil to reach their potential.

The role is 37 hours per week during term time, with hours 8am-4pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-3:30pm Friday. Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion is essential, along with good communication, organisation

Qualifications

• Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience of working with children or young people.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and best practice.
• Good understanding of how young people learn and develop.
• Excellent communication, active listening and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work with students individually, in small groups and in the classroom environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Patient, caring and empathetic approach, with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
• Resilience, adaptability and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Commitment to inclusion, equality, safeguarding and improving outcomes for all students.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of SEND and wider school team.

Responsibilities

• Support students to achieve their potential in an inclusive learning environment.

• Assist with classroom activities and managing behaviour to create a safe learning space.
