Job summary

Harris Academy Benfleet is seeking a passionate Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to join a supportive and ambitious academy. The role focuses on delivering high-quality language lessons, promoting a love of languages, and helping students achieve excellent outcomes.

The successful candidate will have QTS (or equivalent), secondary teaching experience, and strong ICT skills, with the ability to teach German preferred.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
• Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice).
• Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
• Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutor.
• Know National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4, and writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students' work.
• Able to work as part of a team and develop positive relationships with staff.
• Have a good level of ICT skills, including innovative use of interactive white boards.
• Create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
• Communicate positively with parents, carers and external agencies where necessary.
• Have good written and spoken communication skills.
• Lead and manage own work effectively.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Motivate students and raise aspirations through a range of strategies.

Responsibilities

• Implement and deliver a broad, balanced, differentiated curriculum for students and support a designated curriculum area.
• Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
• Facilitate a learning experience enabling students to reach their potential.
• Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
• Support the academy's responsibility to provide opportunities for personal and academic growth.
