Job summary

Chicago Public Schools invites applications for a Temporary Teacher (K-8 Library). Under the principal's supervision, you will plan lessons, monitor progress, manage the classroom, and support attendance and discipline in line with CPS policies.

You will communicate with families about student progress, participate in staff meetings, and may assist with field trips or after-school activities. Illinois teaching certification is required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain ISBE teaching certificate(s).
• Must possess a valid Illinois teaching license (PEL or ELS).
• Knowledge of subject matter consistent with certification requirements and effective teaching practices.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet diverse student needs and collaborate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional lessons with written plans aligned to objectives.
• Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate pupil progress.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about progress and conduct.
• Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff meetings.
