Lovely Secondary School in Birkenhead, Merseyside, is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join its dedicated team from January 2027. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, foster a love of literature and help students develop confidence in their writing and interpretation.

Formación

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Degree in English Literature, English Language or a related subject.
• Experience teaching English in a secondary school, or relevant training as an Early Career Teacher.
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for language, literature and writing.
• Ability to plan engaging lessons that meet a range of learning needs.
• Good classroom management skills and a positive, consistent approach to behaviour.
• The confidence to encourage participation and build positive relationships with students.
• Strong communication, organisation and assessment skills.
• A commitment to helping students make progress and achieve their potential.
• A flexible, collaborative attitude and a willingness to contribute to the wider school community.

Responsabilidades

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across the relevant secondary year groups.
• Teaching English Language and English Literature across the relevant Key Stages.
• Planning creative, well-structured lessons that encourage students to participate and think critically.
• Helping students explore novels, plays, poetry and non-fiction texts from a range of writers and perspectives.
• Developing reading comprehension, analytical writing, creative writing and communication skills.
• Assessing students' work and providing clear, constructive feedback to support their progress.
• Preparing students for GCSE examinations where required.
• Adapting lessons and resources to support different abilities, interests and learning needs.
• Creating a positive classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas.
• Maintaining clear expectations for behaviour, engagement and effort.
• Working with colleagues to share resources, ideas and effective teaching approaches.
• Supporting students who need additional encouragement while providing appropriate challenge for those ready to progress further.
• Contributing to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities and departmental initiatives.
