Job summary

Darlington-based academy is seeking a dynamic Teacher of Computer Science & IT to join the Computing faculty on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January. You will teach KS3-5 Computer Science, with emphasis on Python, algorithms and databases, across OCR/AQA curricula.

You will guide students through coding fundamentals, system architecture and cybersecurity concepts, while supporting extracurricular computing initiatives and maintaining digital learning platforms.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS) or recognised UK teaching credentials (PGCE/SCITT)
• Honours degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a quantitative discipline
• Proficiency in text-based programming languages (Python/Java/C#) and computer systems architecture
• Proven ability to deliver GCSE and A-Level Computer Science outcomes
• Active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Responsibilities

• Teach KS3, KS4 and KS5 Computer Science lessons
• Train pupils in Python programming, algorithms and pseudocode
• Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates for written exams and projects
• Maintain software suites, development environments and learning platforms
• Assess and report pupil progress across programming assessments
• Support coding clubs, robotics teams and cyber-security competitions
