Job description

Job title: Inspection & Testing Engineer

Job Type: Permanent

Start date: Subject to clearance

Salary: £Competitive per annum + Benefits

Location: Stone

Hours of work: 37 Hours Per Week

The Role

As part of the Inspection and Test Team you will be responsible to inspect and test equipment produced by client to ensure the safety and functional operation of the equipment. All testing and inspection is completed using the electrical schematic drawings for the project and a project specific Hardware Test Specification which is written by the Hardware Engineer responsible for the project. The Inspection and Test Specification identifies the inspections and tests to be performed to comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive as a minimum, together with any other customer specific standards which the equipment has been designed to comply with.

Main Responsibilities

• Point to point wiring checks
• Equipment build and configuration inspection
• LVD electrical safety checks
• Earth bond continuity test
• High voltage withstand test
• Insulation resistance test
• Power up, fusing and equipment functionality checks
• PLC based automation control panels
• IT cubicles which may contain computing and networking equipment
• Peripheral equipment including printers, scanners etc

Experience / Qualifications

• You must be able to read and interpret circuit diagrams, general assembly prints, wiring schedules and parts lists
• You must be able to understand and implement test procedures and instructions
• You must be able to inspect and test cubicles in line with Company standards
• You must be able to maintain/complete test documentation and reports
• You must have operational knowledge of components such as MCB's, RCD's, Fuses, Transformers, Power supply's and safety critical components
• You must be proficient in the use of electronic multi-meters and other test equipment
• You must have worked within an ISO 9001 compliant quality system
• You must be willing and have the ability to attend at customer sites to witness equipment tests
• You must hold a current driving licence
• All candidates must hold either a nationally recognised technical qualification in an Electrical/Electronic discipline, e.g HNC/HND, 17th or 18th Edition C&G2382 & Inspection & Test or completed a modern apprenticeship or similar
• Please note for this role all candidates MUST be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance
