Job description

Because your new ideas are our way new ways of working. Evolve, your way.

The Global Insights Team at Primark

We are a newly formed team within Primark, at the start of an exciting journey to integrate insights into the business to drive performance.

Our mission is to drive insight-led decision making for maximum impact in helping Primark achieve its strategic goals.

The team is structured across pillars covering Brand & Marketing, Consumer Journey, Product Category, and Performance & Growth. This role sits within Performance & Growth, interpreting the market and consumer to tell the performance story for a set of priority countries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and own the consumer and market story for your priority countries, producing the fact-packs, competitive analysis and consumer-behaviour synthesis that guide local strategy and growth, with direction from the Performance & Growth Insights Manager.
  • Interpret how consumers behave and how each market is moving, connecting Primark’s sales and customer data to the wider market picture to explain what is driving performance.
  • Act as the day-to-day owner of Primark’s external research and data provider relationships, making sure the business gets the insight it needs, when it needs it.
  • Feed consistent, comparable country inputs into the KPI frameworks and scorecards used across Strategy, Finance and Leadership.
Data Sources & Vendor Management
  • Own the day-to-day relationship with Primark’s external research and consumer data panels, briefing requests, tracking deliverables and quality-checking outputs.
  • Combine syndicated market data, sales data and primary research into a single, clear view per market, covering brand health, value and price perception, market share and consumer trends.
  • Keep source definitions and processes current so market views stay consistent and comparable across countries.
Reporting, Dashboards & Storytelling
  • Produce clear, persuasive insight deliverables, including fact-packs, presentations and commentary, that get to the “so what” and the recommendation rather than reporting numbers.
  • Present findings to country and central stakeholders in a way they can act on, helping answer “how we win with customers” for each market.
  • Bring the analysis to life in clear visuals, using Excel and Power BI (or a similar tool) to make the story easy to follow, partnering with Data/Tech teams where heavier automation is needed.
Market & Competitor Tracking
  • Track competitor moves, pricing and market indicators across your markets, using Edited as a tool, flagging opportunities and risks early enough for local teams to act on them.
  • Maintain a genuine finger on the pulse of each market through self-initiated desk research and competitive monitoring.
Essential knowledge, education, skills and experience
  • 2–4 years in consumer or market insight, market research or category insight, within retail, fashion, ecommerce or consumer goods.
  • Hands-on experience with syndicated market data (Kantar/Worldpanel, and ideally GlobalData, GWI, Circana/NIQ or Oxford Economics), and comfortable combining it with sales data and primary research.
  • A strong storyteller who interprets data, lands the “so what” and the recommendation, and holds the attention of senior, non-technical audiences.
  • Experience owning or coordinating external research and data providers, briefing them and quality-checking what they deliver.
  • Genuinely curious about consumers, competitors and markets, with the discipline to keep sources, definitions and processes organised.
  • Confident in Excel and comfortable using Power BI (or a similar tool) to present analysis clearly. You don’t need to be a data engineer; you do need to make numbers tell a story.
  • Comfortable working across markets and with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Working proficiency in Spanish, Italian or French is a plus, given the country focus of the role.
Personal Attributes
  • Genuinely curious about why consumers behave as they do, and about what competitors are doing.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to prioritise across projects and deliverables while meeting deadlines.
  • Articulate, with clear presentation skills and the ability to make complex information understandable to different audiences.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
  • Resilient, able to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced, international environment.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Excited? Good. Because it’s energising to put your skills to work, in a growing global business committed to encouraging people to express themselves – and feel a sense of belonging. Apply to be part of Primark’s future, today… and enjoy career growth, our way.
