Job summary

Hempons is seeking an Inquests Solicitor or Associate to join the Inquests and Inquiries Team in Leeds. The role focuses on inquests with opportunities to work on public inquiries, investigations and patient safety projects.

You will advise, advocate and collaborate with health, care and charity sector clients, supported by a forward-looking team. A hybrid working pattern offers office presence one to two times per month and strong career development.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Advocacy skills commensurate to experience
• Interest in healthcare law and patient safety
• Ability to work collaboratively with national team

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of work (primarily inquests) with supervision
• Advise clients on varied caseload with supervision
• Provide clear factual and legal analysis, including complex submissions
• Undertake advocacy, including in multi-agency Article 2 inquests
• Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, Coroners and professionals
• Support client relationship management and business development activities
• Develop internal and external relationships to promote the team’s work
• Provide supervision and mentorship
• Handle confidential information and adhere to firm policies
• Maintain financial management including time recording and billing
