Overview

Older People Care Unit has an opportunity for a full‑time Inpatient Clinical Secretary for Silverbirch Ward at Highbury Hospital. This post will provide secretarial and administrative support to the ward clinical and medical teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the ward clinical and medical teams.
  • Support the Consultant Psychiatrist and Ward Manager, maintaining accurate appointment schedules.
  • Assist the clinical team with all necessary clerical arrangements for admissions and discharges.
  • Coordinate and attend ward rounds and other regular ward meetings, taking accurate minutes.
  • Maintain an effective filing system for patients’ records and documentation.
  • Enter data onto the Rio patient information system for patients on the ward.
Qualifications
  • Experience working as a secretary in a role similar to consultant or senior management level, with comprehensive knowledge of administration and secretarial duties.
  • RSA/OCR Level 3 in typing or text processing, or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled Worker visa. Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced); this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
