Job summary

NHS is seeking an on-site Catering and General Services Assistant to provide high-standard catering and housekeeping in a mental health inpatient environment. You will ensure meals are prepared, served on time, and aligned with Trust policies on food safety and hygiene.

You will work with nursing and dietetics teams to support special diets and maintain accurate records, inventory and display of menus for service users. A team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Provide catering and housekeeping in a mental health inpatient environment in line with national standards.
• Adhere to cleanliness, infection prevention & control and food safety standards.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to support nutrition and care plans.

Responsibilities

• Receive and store all food in accordance with standards and Trust policy.
• Prepare and pack menu items for service users per HACCP and safety policies.
• Regenerate/prepare and serve meals and related items on time according to policies.
• Wash all items and tableware after each meal service.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the unit catering department.
• Communicate with nursing staff and dietitians to meet special diets.
• Collate/input data for ordering special diets on the catering sheets.
• Liaise menu changes with service users and nursing staff.
• Maintain records of food storage and regeneration as required.
• Prepare for meal times with menus displayed to standards.
