What do the team do?

The Tax team work with clients across a broad spectrum, from high net worth individuals through to large corporates and not‑for‑profit entities. The team has an international presence and offers compliance services for complex clients through to delivering exciting projects of an advisory nature.

In this role you will work closely with a newly appointed Tax Director and lead on a portfolio of clients focused mainly on R&D tax relief. To support the firm's ambitious growth plans, this has been identified as an area of growth for the business and we are committed to investing in this offering. We are especially interested in hearing from anyone with demonstrated experience in Patent Box and Video Games Tax Relief (VGTR). As one of the first people into this specialist team, this role also offers a clear pathway to senior manager and beyond.

What will I be doing?

As an Innovation Tax Manager you will have ownership of the following tasks:

  • Delivering high‑quality R&D tax assignments with minimal Partner/Director review.
  • Providing manager‑level sign‑off on technical queries (including HMRC enquiries) and support across the business.
  • Supervising and delegating R&D tax advisory work to juniors effectively.
  • Identifying and converting new opportunities for R&D tax services within existing client relationships.
  • Responding to enquiries from potential new clients, including those via the website.
  • Overseeing client onboarding, AML procedures, WIP control, and billing for R&D tax engagements.
  • Supporting team development through coaching, mentoring, and leading team meetings.
What experience do I need?

  • CTA and/or ACA qualified with experience managing R&D tax portfolios (minimum criteria).
  • Skilled in assessing materiality and risk in R&D tax assignments (minimum criteria).
  • Ability to ensure technical and compliance standards are met in R&D tax files.
  • Capable of producing high‑quality technical documentation and correspondence.
  • Articulate communicator with credibility among clients and colleagues.
  • Organised and effective in planning and delegation.
