Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers PLC is seeking a night porter to warmly welcome guests arriving late and to support front-of-house tasks overnight. You will ensure safety, handle breakfast area setup, and assist with room and breakfast preparations for the next day. DBS check is part of recruitment.

You will be trusted to work independently, maintain professionalism under pressure, and contribute to a team that delivers excellent guest service during night hours.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Provide warm, friendly welcome to guests.
• Assist with front-of-house tasks and breakfast setup as needed.
• Maintain guest and business safety and security.
• Evacuate guests and team safely in an emergency.
• Answer phone inquiries and address guest complaints.

Job description

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

What You’ll Do In This Role

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
