Job description

Adecco is recruiting for a Trainer to join Dorset Police, based at their HQ in Ferndown.

This post is office‑based, working Monday‑Friday, 37 hours per week. The pay rate is £17.97 per hour. It is temporary until the end of December 2026.

The purpose of the role

To design and deliver training and development interventions to ensure that the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviour of police officers, staff and other members of the force meet the requirements and priorities of the Force.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, prepare annual training schedules and design, develop and deliver training and development across a range of packages, including initial and force training.
  • Deliver training programmes across defined geographic areas (Dorset, Devon, Cornwall) and provide targeted training for specific staff groups.
  • Facilitate training packages as required across other areas to meet the demands of the Force.
  • Design, deliver and assess on‑ and off‑the‑job training packages, including written materials, classroom sessions and learning exercises, using technology and innovative delivery methods.
  • Identify individual and organisational training needs, conduct training needs analysis, and discuss requirements with line management and senior staff.
  • Accurately assess the skills and abilities of trainees against National Occupational Standards and Authorised Practice.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Level 4 Trainer
  • Level 3 Assessor
  • Operationally competent in the role of PCSOP
  • Residency: must have lived in the UK continuously for at least the last five years.
  • Experience of Police Vetting checks or willingness to undergo vetting.
