Job summary

The James Hutton Institute is seeking an Infrastructure & Security Engineer to safeguard and enhance technology services that support world-leading research. You will contribute to cyber security operations, risk management, and secure infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments, helping protect data, systems and users from evolving threats.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure in a complex environment.
  • Experience in a cyber security or security focused technology role.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Experience with endpoint security, vulnerability remediation and patch management.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

The Vacancy

We're looking for an Infrastructure & Security Engineer to help protect and improve the technology services that support world leading research. If you're passionate about cyber security, modern infrastructure and solving technical challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

Working as part of the IT team, you will play a key role in cyber security operations, vulnerability management, cyber risk management, endpoint security and infrastructure security across our on-premises and cloud environments. You will help protect systems, data and users from evolving cyber threats while supporting secure and effective technology services across the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Monitoring and responding to cyber security threats, vulnerabilities and incidents.
