Overview

CGI's Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit focuses on delivering contemporary technical solutions to government agencies for challenging problems. We build, operate and maintain mission‑critical systems that keep our clients safe and secure. We seek experienced Infrastructure Engineers who will partner with clients to define, guide and assure the delivery of integrated solutions in a highly secure hybrid on‑prem / cloud environment.
The role is based on a secure client site requiring on‑site attendance five days per week, with occasional flexibility where business and security constraints allow.

Due to the secure nature of this project, candidates must either already hold, or be eligible to obtain, a high level of UK Security Clearance. Eligibility requirements include sole British nationality, at least ten years of UK residency, and no more than 28 consecutive days spent outside the UK within the last five years. Individuals without clearance are still encouraged to apply and may be considered for this and other suitable opportunities within CGI.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in infrastructure engineering – design, build, deploy, test and support.
  • Deployment across on‑prem and cloud infrastructure.
  • Kubernetes, containerisation, platform engineering.
  • Kubernetes architecture – pods, services, deployments and networking, software‑defined networking.
  • Experience with scripting (Python/Shell).
  • Docker experience: image creation, container management, security patching and orchestration.
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with cloud compute – AWS (primarily), GCP or Azure.
  • GitOps tooling such as Argo CD.
  • Infrastructure security, compliance and governance.
  • Familiarity with the CNCF ecosystem and building platforms atop Kubernetes.
  • Container orchestration tools (Docker Swarm / Apache Mesos).
  • Service mesh technologies (Istio / Linkerd).
  • Monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills – troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work across diverse stakeholders and multiple sites.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and Git tooling.
  • Cloud computing, infrastructure architecture, network architecture.

We do not expect candidates to know every item on the list. Experience across multiple areas is desirable, but the ability to learn quickly and a willingness to contribute across the technology stack are valued.
