Infrastructure Engineer & Support Specialist

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Infrastructure Engineer & Support Specialist to join our IT Department in Westerham, Kent. This crucial role supports the core IT infrastructure across our EMEAA regional locations, combining 1st/2nd Level Technical Support with hands-on responsibilities in the development, administration, and delivery of key network and server projects.

You will be vital in minimizing downtime, maintaining security, and supporting our business stakeholders in adopting new technologies.

  • Role Title: Infrastructure Engineer & Support Specialist
  • Location: Westerham, Kent
  • Salary: £34,000 - £37,000 per annum
  • Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
  • Reporting Into: Head of Technology Operations (EMEAA)
Key Responsibilities

This is a dual-focus role covering both core infrastructure management and end-user support.

Infrastructure & Operations
  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage solutions, and cloud environments.
  • Manage virtualized environments (V-center), ensuring optimal resource allocation for virtual machines and containers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain system security and performance through regular patching and software updates.
  • Strong knowledge and operational support for VLANs, Firewalls (Fortinet), Backup solutions, Print Servers, and Anti-virus systems.
End-User & Technical Support
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level technical support to end-users across the organization for desktop systems, networks, and infrastructure services.
  • Diagnose and fix issues related to operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), applications, and network connectivity.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees (workstation setup, email configuration) and provide initial technical training.
  • Asset Management, including building IT equipment to required standards.
  • Document solutions, create user guides, and maintain a knowledge base to improve future troubleshooting.
What You Will Already Have
  • Experience & Education: A two- or four-year college degree with an emphasis on Computer Science or Business Data Processing, along with five years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Microsoft Proficiency: Certified in or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Server (installation, Active Directory, Remote Administration, Configuration, Security) and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Network & Security: Strong knowledge of VLANs, Firewalls, Fortinet, V-center, Backup solutions, and Anti-virus systems.
  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in administering common operating systems (Windows 10/11, Linux, macOS) and experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and LDAP.
  • Technical Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, networking, and cloud platforms. Experience with endpoint management solutions (SCCM, Intune, etc.) and monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Support & Process: Familiarity with ticketing systems (JIRA, ServiceNow, etc.) and knowledge of ITSM/ITIL practices for managing service requests and change management.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, listening, and teamwork skills. The ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
