Job summary

Synergize Consulting Limited in Bristol seeks an Infrastructure Engineer to support an ongoing defence programme. The role focuses on offline Windows/Linux platforms, Docker environments, and IaC using Ansible and DSC, with security-focused operational duties.

Required SC clearance, DevOps mindset, and experience in Agile Scrum. Four onsite days per week are typical, with potential for condensed or full-time onsite work.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Windows and Linux infrastructure.
• PowerShell and Bash scripting experience.
• Experience building Docker images, deploying containers, and configuring container networking.
• Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, PowerShell DSC, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls) and cybersecurity principles.
• Experience in an Agile Scrum environment.
• Active SC Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and maintain offline Windows and Linux platforms.
• Import and install software in secure offline environments.
• Apply, manage, and maintain subsystem changes, including security patching, Group Policy configuration, Windows Registry modifications, and system configuration and hardening.
• Research and apply industry best practices to support secure, efficient infrastructure.
• Build, manage, and maintain offline Docker environments.
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions for offline Windows and Linux environments.
• Develop and maintain automation using Ansible and PowerShell DSC.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, including analyzing system and application logs.
• Produce clear technical and user-facing documentation.

We are a leading defence prime based in the Bristol area, seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support an ongoing programme. This is a long-term contract through March 2027, paying up to £650 per day inside IR35. The role is based at our Bristol headquarters, with four days a week onsite; condensed hours or five days a week onsite are also possible.
