Job summary

SiXworks is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design and implement secure digital solutions in highly secure environments in Bristol. You will work with Cisco Nexus, NetApp ONTAP, Hyper-V, VMware Cloud Foundation, and HSM/KMS to enable safe, fast decision-making for critical operations.

The role requires hands-on expertise in storage, virtualization, and cryptographic hardware, with a focus on secure build practices and compliance with high-security standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus and NetApp ONTAP in securing data paths and storage.
• Experience deploying Hyper-V in high-availability, high-security configurations.
• Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments and integration.
• Knowledge of hardware cryptographic systems (HSM/KMS) for key management and secure operations.
• Proficiency with Windows Server 2022/2025 in enterprise security contexts.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to enable faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.
• Configure and harden network and storage components to meet high-security standards.

We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.

What You’ll Do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help design, build, and deliver secure digital solutions in highly secure environments. You’ll work alongside engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to develop technology that enables faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.

Your work may include:

• Fabric Underlay: Configure and harden Cisco Nexus Leaf/Spine architectures to support high-throughput, low-latency traffic.


• Enterprise Storage: Initialize and present NetApp storage arrays, ensuring data‑at‑rest encryption is strictly enforced.


• Infrastructure Virtualisation: Build and harden a Hyper‑V cluster to host core services (AD/DNS/PKI).


• VMware VCF Integration: Assist in the enablement and integration of a VMware private cloud environment


• Hardware Security: Initialise and manage HSM/KMS appliances, leading the \"Key Ceremonies\" required for a high‑assurance environment.


• Physical Build: Execute professional rack‑and‑stack and secure cabling in accordance with high‑physical‑security standards (e.g. SCIDA).

What We’re Looking For

We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:

• Hands‑on expertise with Cisco Nexus (or equivalent) and NetApp ONTAP (or equivalent).


• Experience deploying Hyper‑V in a high‑availability, high‑security configuration.


• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (e.g. VCF 5+)


• Familiarity with hardware‑based cryptographic systems (HSM/KMS).


• Experience with Windows Server 2022/2025
