British Steel in Scunthorpe is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to shape and support the organisation’s infrastructure services that underpin operations.
You will work across Windows Server and Red Hat Linux, collaborate with EUC, Network and Security teams, and help deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions while modernising the technology estate.
Salary–Upto£50,000.00

Pattern of Work –36.5 hours, Monday – Friday
As an Infrastructure Engineer,you’llplay a key role in shaping and supporting the infrastructure services that underpin the organisation’s operations.
Working across a diverse technology landscape,you’llhelp deliver secure,reliableand scalable solutions while contributing to the ongoing modernisation and continuous improvement of our technology estate.
You’llwork closely with End User Computing (EUC), Network and Security teams, as well as developers and other IT professionals, helping to ensure technology solutions are aligned,integratedand fit for purpose across the wider business.
Through collaboration and technicalexpertise,you’llcontribute to the design, implementation and support of resilient infrastructure services that enable operational success.
Administer,maintainand enhance the organisation’s Nutanix virtualisation platform and supporting infrastructure services.
Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues, ensuringhigh levelsof service availability and performance.
Manage backup,recoveryand disaster recovery solutions, regularlyvalidatingresilience and recovery capabilities.
Support the lifecycle management of server,storageand infrastructure platforms, including upgrades,patchingand capacity planning.
Develop andmaintainautomation,standardisationand operational processes to improve the efficiency and reliability of infrastructure services.
Contribute to the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions that align with security, operational and business requirements.
Work collaboratively with EUC, Network, Security and Development teams to support integrated technology services and project delivery.
Produce andmaintaintechnical documentation,standardsand operational procedures.
Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices across the IT function.
Participate in infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives,identifyingopportunities to enhance services and technologies.
Experience administering enterprise server and infrastructure platforms across Windows Server and Red Hat Linux environments.
Experience administering enterprise virtualisation platforms, ideally including Nutanix & VMware
Experience supporting server,storageand compute infrastructure in a high-availability environment.
Experience managing enterprise backup and recovery solutions, ideally using technologies such as NetBackup, Veeam or Commvault.
Strong experience administering Microsoft cloud technologies including Entra ID, Intune and Exchange Online.
Experience managing endpoint deployment, configuration,complianceand lifecycle management across enterprise device estates
Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and core infrastructure services.
Experience monitoring,troubleshootingand resolving infrastructure issues within a complex enterprise environment.
Experience developing andmaintainingautomation solutions using PowerShell.
