Job summary

Gambit Search in London is seeking two Infrastructure Engineers to join the UK Government team. You will own the reliability of production infrastructure behind high-stakes deployments and work with engineering and product teams on systems design.

You’ll be responsible for automating operations, deploying new products, and participating in a rotating on-call schedule. Relocation support is available for those near London.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years in infrastructure engineering, SRE or platform engineering, building and running large-scale production systems.
• Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker.
• A CS or software engineering degree is preferred.
• Experience in defence tech, government or a high-complexity tech organisation (big tech or cloud) is a strong plus.
• Terraform, Ansible or CI/CD experience is a bonus.
• Active UK DV clearance, already held. Being eligible to obtain it isn’t enough.
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, within 30 minutes of the central London office. Relocation support is available.

Responsibilities

• Build, run and maintain high-performance, scalable services across UK government environments.
• Own production reliability: monitoring, alerting, configuration management and upgrades.
• Work with deployed engineering and product teams on systems design, and on diagnosing, fixing and preventing production issues.
• Deploy new products and migrate environments to the latest infrastructure.
• Lead automation work to remove manual operations, using in-house platforms and cutting-edge LLM/AI tooling.
• Join an on-call rotation (roughly once every 5–6 weeks).
