Overview

Are you a data-driven thinker with a passion for improving healthcare outcomes? This is a rare and exciting opportunity to become a key player in our Pharmacy team as a Data Analyst, embedded within the Pharmacy Medicines Use & Quality division. You’ll collaborate across the Trust with Procurement, Finance, and Information teams, and connect with regional and national NHS networks to drive meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities
  • To be responsible for the development and production of medicines related reporting and data analytics along with pharmacy business intelligence metrics from our digital systems.
  • To ensure that timely, relevant and accessible information is available to relevant departmental, divisional and Trust stakeholders in relation to medicines and related pharmacy business activities.
  • To support the timely submission of month end medicine related financial data extracts to the relevant teams in finance to support the Trust in satisfying mandatory and contractual reporting obligations.
  • To ensure that data integrity is maintained and that submission of data is carried out accurately and timely.
  • To develop key relationships with colleagues within the trust reporting team, finance and commissioning teams along with relevant stakeholders (e.g. CDF, NHSE).
  • Track and analyse biosimilar switching trends to support decision‑making in conjunction with the senior managers.
  • To be responsible for the extraction of data pertaining to medicines, including high cost drugs (HCD), from the Trust’s information systems including Pharmacy Stock Control System, electronic Prescribing Medicines Administration (ePMA) System and other pharmacy systems. To ensure that all statutory activity data relating to medication activity is collated, validated, checked for accuracy and submitted in accordance with strict deadlines.
  • Extract and analyse datasets derived from pharmacy digital systems, to maintain regular performance reporting mechanisms for medicines and pharmacy activity across the Trust.
  • Set up and maintenance of a database with patients treated with excluded from tariff medicines as required.
  • To assist in the recovery of funding for PbR excluded “high cost drug” exclusions and management of IAS / NHS England approvals for PbR excluded and exceptional circumstances drugs.
  • Carry out relevant audits and analysis on the use of PbR excluded drugs and NICE approved drugs used at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Qualifications
