Infection Prevention and Control Assistant Practitioner

To support the work of the IPaC team with the IPaC audit programme, IPaC link champion training and development, IPaC training, IPaC and TB outbreak screening and FIT testing.
This role can be offered as fixed term or secondment.
Main duties of the job
To support and contribute to the delivery of the Infection Prevention and Control service to patients and staff within Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust and externally.

Job responsibilities
- Provide IPaC hand hygiene training internally to NCHC staff and externally i.e. care homes where required
- Carry out hand hygiene and commode audits across NCHC staff and externally i.e. care homes where required
- Attend external premises to screen people (nose and throat swabs) i.e.: farms or homes of farm workers for avian influenza (Nose and throat swabs)
- Require competency for High Consequence Infectious Disease (HCID) PPE donning and doffing
Qualifications
- Foundation Degree in Health or Social Care or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and skills acquired through training and experience
- Experience of working in a health or social care setting
Experience
- Experience of working with people, in the statutory/voluntary/private sector
- Experience of working with people at the end of life
- Evidence of ongoing learning
- Experience dealing with members of the public / service user enquiries
- Experience of working in people’s homes
- Knowledge of NHS policy and procedure
Skills
- Knowledge of additional specialist areas through in-house training & short courses
- Highly motivated
- Able to work to strict deadlines in a pressurised environment
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team roles
- Experience of working in a community setting
