Job summary

Free-Work in Scunthorpe is seeking an Industrial Software Engineer / Systems Engineer to own production-critical systems with a strong C# and SQL background. You’ll work across multiple plant areas, resolving complex issues and contributing to long-term technical progression.

You’ll gain exposure to Grafana and Power BI for reporting and data visualisation, in a varied OT environment that blends modern platforms with legacy systems. Hybrid work is 3 days onsite, 2 days remote after probation.

Qualifications

• Strong C# and SQL skills with production systems experience.
• Experience with integrated systems and troubleshooting complex environments.
• Manufacturing/Process control experience is a plus.

Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire (Commutable from: Grimsby, Doncaster, Hull, Lincoln, Gainsborough, Brigg, Barton-upon-Humber, Immingham)

Are you a Software Engineer / Systems Engineer with strong C# and SQL skills looking to take real ownership of production-critical systems, with long-term technical development and the chance to influence future architecture?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a major industrial manufacturer where you'll develop and support applications that underpin large-scale operations across multiple plant areas, working in a varied OT environment that blends modern platforms with legacy systems.

As part of a wider modernisation programme, you will get exposure to a broad tech stack (C#, Python, PHP, SQL) alongside reporting and data visualisation tools such as Grafana / Power BI, with the chance to improve reliability, performance and data integrity across business-critical integrations.

You will be responsible for developing and supporting applications, maintaining databases and interfaces, troubleshooting real-time integrations, and contributing to change control and version control practices (Git), working closely with operations and technical stakeholders.

This role would suit a proactive engineer who enjoys solving complex problems in a live production environment and wants long-term technical progression on high-impact systems.

The Role

• Develop and support applications using C# and SQL across multiple plant areas
• Troubleshoot and improve integrated systems, interfaces and data flows
• Support reporting and dashboards (Grafana / Power BI)
• Contribute to legacy system support and modernisation/migration work
