Job summary

Thales Group in Glasgow, UK is seeking an Operations Planner to develop and maintain production and material plans, coordinating with team leaders, program managers, and buyers to ensure alignment and timely execution.

You will manage capacity planning, lead regular production review meetings, and support meeting and exceeding sales goals by optimizing the Master Production Schedule and reporting on material availability and progress across the factory.

Qualifications

  • Strong MRP II planning experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with ERP systems and capacity planning.
  • Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
  • Familiarity with BOMs and routings; APICS/IOM qualifications desirable.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and maintain production and material plans, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions where needed.
  • Collaborate closely with team leaders, program managers, and buyers to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Manage capacity planning processes and lead regular production review meetings.
  • Support the team in meeting and exceeding sales goals of over £205 million.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Load customer demands into the Master Production Schedule.
  • Planner workbench activities to optimise efficiency.
  • Report on material availability, job progress, and inventory management.
  • Build strong relationships across teams and contribute to a culture of collaboration and mutual success.
  • Develop innovative solutions to process challenges, always aligning with company objectives.
Your Skills & Experience
  • Strong MRP II planning skills and a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally with ERP systems.
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Familiarity with complex bills of material and routings (advantageous).
  • APICS or Institute of Operations Management qualifications (desirable but not essential).
