Job description

As an Industrial Placement Quantity Surveyor, you will assist in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and develop a strong foundation in quantity surveying.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial resources of the project
• Assist in maximising gross profit for projects
• Assess, review, and mitigate commercial/contractual risks and value work executed by sub‑contractors
• Help prepare and submit tenders and contract documents
• Collaborate with the project team to prepare progress reports and financial statements, and gain practical hands‑on experience in the field

Placement Details

The role is an industrial placement year with a 12‑month programme, scheduled to run from 2026 to 2027. After completion you will return to university and expect to graduate in 2028. The placement is based in Southampton and is offered by Kier, a leading UK construction and infrastructure services company.
