Job summary

Specfab Ltd. is seeking a skilled surface preparation operative to prepare fabricated steelwork and components for industrial painting. You will abrasive blast, shot blast, grind, sand, and degrease surfaces, remove rust and contaminants, and mask areas to remain paint-free.

You will inspect work, maintain clean prep areas, operate lifting equipment, and follow health and safety, environmental and quality procedures. GCSE level education and at least 1 year in a similar role are expected.

Qualifications

• GCSE level education or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role.
• Proven experience with blasting techniques and equipment.
• Knowledge of paint systems and mixing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fabricated steelwork and components for painting.
• Perform abrasive blast / shot blast as required.
• Conduct mechanical preparation using grinders, sanders and power tools.
• Degrease and clean surfaces.
• Remove rust, scale, weld spatter and other contaminants.
• Mask components and machined areas that must remain paint-free.
• Inspect surfaces before painting and identify any additional prep needs.
• Follow all health and safety, environmental and quality procedures.
