This role will provide dedicated 1:1 medical supervision for an identified pupil throughout the school day, in accordance with the pupil's Individual Healthcare Plan, risk assessments, emergency medication instructions and the school's procedures.
The postholder will monitor for signs of medical need, respond promptly to changes in the pupil's presentation and take the action set out in the pupil's current healthcare and emergency plans. This may include seeking urgent assistance and administering or assisting with the administration of prescribed emergency medication, but only where the postholder is trained, authorised and acting strictly within the current written plan and clinical instructions.
This is a medical supervision and safety role. The postholder is assigned to the identified pupil and must not be redirected to general classroom, administrative or Teaching Assistant duties where doing so would compromise the required level of supervision.
